G’day, I’m Matt.
I started Optimal Health 9 years ago because I wanted to help my clients achieve life-altering results. Through my own experience in recovery from injury I learned that when you train your body systematically, and with the right kind of support, you can beat some truly challenging odds.
At Optimal Health, we work with people from all walks of life and have a special interest in preventative health, physical longevity, activating the aged care sector, rehabilitation and supporting those battling mental health conditions; all through well-designed personal training. Our philosophy is focused on training the individual with care and compassion in an environment that feels welcoming and inclusive. Our clients work hard but they can also be a lot of fun – we often laugh as hard as we train!

At Optimal Health, we don’t do quick fixes. We’re focused on training you for optimal performance and long term, premium fitness. We know that the hard work you do today will pay off tomorrow and that there is nothing more valuable that the health of your body. We also know that no matter where or when you start, you can gain physically, mentally and emotionally from regular, focused training – some of our clients are in their eighties!
What are we most proud of about our approach?
At Optimal Health we ensure we have the skills and knowledge to ensure YOUR sessions are tailor made to suit YOUR body. We all have innate physical strengths, weaknesses and imbalances, based on our bodies and the lives we lead. By identifying these through regular functional testing, we can work out to how optimize the way you move and maximise your performance and resilience long term.
When you come along to Optimal Health, you won’t be doing time on a treadmill or completing repetitive sessions that you can get used to! We’re all for breaking skills down, changing things up and finding new ways to challenge you at exactly the right level to get you results. We are committed to continuing our own learning and development so that we can bring you the very latest in training technique and methodology.
We like to open our doors to EVERY BODY. And by this, we mean that we actively seek to offer training to those who might not ordinarily reach for it. There is no age limit or required fitness level to make a start. Physical and mental health conditions are a good reason to train, so don’t let them stand in your way. Every person can gain in vitality, strength, confidence and happiness through improved physical wellbeing.
We take a holistic approach to your wellbeing however we only work within our scope of practise, leaving nutritional and medical advice to the experts. To ensure you train safely and give your body what it needs to progress, we collaborate with allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, GP’s, nutritionists and chiropractors and can offer you a recommendation if required, or work with your own health advisors.
Our business is truly personal.
‘Personal’ training is not just about trying to get people fit and strong or making them accountable. For us, it’s about knowing our clients as unique people with individual sensitivities and challenges. Tailoring programs physically is only half of the equation – the other half is building a relationship of trust so that you feel confident and willing to reach for your very best result.
