This program has a general well-being focus because we believe that physical fitness is a key factor in a happy, confident and productive life. We’ll tailor a training program that works on building your long-term strength, flexibility, mobility and energy levels, so you’ll be fit for action work and play. You’ll get hold of more of those smile-enhancing endorphins as you train your way to a happier, healthier ‘Optimal You’.


Social training is a fun way to get things done. When you join one of my Optimal Team programs, not only will you receive individually tailored semi-private training sessions at a great rate, you’ll get to do it alongside people who enjoy laughing at their own moderate pain and who love coffee almost as much as they love my exercise regimes. Bring your own team or join one of mine.


All of us have an inner athlete – so don’t go getting shy about this one. This program is about preparing and fine-tuning your body for a specific event or sport. It is suitable for elite athletes or people setting out to defeat a new challenge, such as a fun run. If you’re shooting for a special achievement, sign me up to prepare your body and we’ll plan your progress towards it, one step at a time.


At Optimal health, we specialise in rehabilitation. Matt has personal experience in the step-by-step process it takes to recover from a major physical trauma, so he’s especially passionate about ensuring you get the right support as your body makes a comeback and where required, will connect you with allied health professionals to maximise your progress. It can take time, but perseverance and commitment will pay you back in dividends.


Our Optimal Life programs are designed for people with specific health issues that make physical activity hard to approach. We offer programs for people in aged care, those suffering from mental or physical health conditions, people with brain injuries or other issues that require highly modified training. We can’t go past the joy of seeing how just one consistent weekly session can put a smile on these people’s faces and make such a difference to their quality of life. If you happen to like coffee as much as we do, you might want to join our Sunday ‘Optimal Coffee Run’, which is as fun as it sounds and offered free of charge to all our members. Sometimes we train together for an upcoming event, but mostly it involves a 30 minute walk or run session at your own pace, followed up by excellent coffee with suitably Optimal people!

Join our Facebook group to find out where the run will start each week and keep you to date for changes in the event of bad weather.

Over the past 4 years I have attended Matt’s gym 3 times per week in small group sessions. I have, at the age of 50, now walked the Point to pinnacle half marathon twice, something I would never have imagined possible.
